The last third of the night is a blessed time when Allah descends to the lowest heaven and asks, "Who is asking for forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Who is asking for something so that I may give it to him? Who is supplicating to Me so that I may respond to him?" (Bukhari & Muslim). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged Muslims to pray during this time, as supplications are more likely to be answered.
